Don competed at two Summer Olympic Games in 1988 in Seoul, South Korea  and 1992 in Barcelona, Spain.  In Seoul, at the age of 22, he was in the men’s coxless pairs with partner David Johnson where they rowed in two heats.

In 1992, he rowed in the men’s double sculls with Todd Hallet racing four times, including the semis. They finished the B Final in a time of 6:22.84, just under 2 seconds off their best time at the Games.

While a  member of FRC, Dickison won two medals at the 1985 Canada Summer Games  on the Kennebecasis River in Renforth at the age of 18. gold  in the men’s quad and bronze in the double rowing with his brother in each boat.
