There were 13 members of FRC that took part in Rowing PEI’s first Red Island Regatta on Saturday on the Brudenell River which highlighted a unique combination of events including sprint races as well as coastal rowing in open water.
The regatta may be the first of its kind in Canada and North America combining sprint and coastal rowing events.
The 1K sprint events were located in the headwaters of the Brudenell River. The Coastal Regatta was a head race that was held from the same location, launching from the other side of a sand spit, rowing to open coastal water at the mouth of the Brudenell River.
The P.E.I club bought boats to handle both rough and calm water conditions.
