The Paris Crew enters hall of fame

The Paris Crew was inducted into the inaugural class of the Canadian Rowing Hall of Fame  on Tuesday in St. Catharines, Ont.

In 1867, The Paris Crew , consisting of four men from Saint John, defeated favourites England and France at the World Amateur Rowing Championships in Paris, France. Members of the crew were Robert Fulton, George Price, Samuel Hutton and Elijah Ross. Chantelle Hanley, NB high performance coach and Ian Morrison of Kennebecasis Rowing Club accepted the award on their behalf.

The ceremony took place at the opening of the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta. Others inducted included Ned Hanlan and Claude Saunders.
